Basic of web pages

In the internet, the information is stored in different files in different computer .Each file is called web page, the size and contents of a web page is different from that of another file.Web pages can have text,image, animated figures,audio clips or a combination of all these.
 The file may be made of few lines or of several lines  depending on the design,color and content , page differs.A web site is defined as the collection of a number of web pages reffered under a common name called website adress. The first page of a web site is known as the home page.For any web site , the page is the welcome page and so it contains an index of the contents of the site and also links to its other pages and sometimes , even to related sites

Usually one or more links may be given from each page to other pages but this is not essential .
Link may be underlined words or it may be built into pictures.Usually links are indicated with special colours or with underlines.But this is not compulsary. On a web page ,links can be easily located.If the mouse pointer appearing on the screen changes hand symbol while moving over any object or text in the screen,it indicates that the object or the text has a link.The status bar at that time indicates the address of the linked pages. On clicking the linked pages the linked file is opened and displayed on the screen.It is possible to view different webpages in different windows,by right clicked and opting for open in a new window.

Types of links
 There are basically three types of links.
     *majority  of them are simple links.These links direct users to  another page on clicking it;
     *A complex link is special link known as a form this link allows users to enter information and submit it to the server This is similar to a form submitted in a paper and is used in different interactive applications.The data received  by the server are processed using programs called CGI sripts
    * There is also a special link known as IMAGE MAP.
